F.O.I.L: Freedom Of Information Law
The Fairview Fire District is committed to providing a public service that is open, transparent, and accessible. As part of that, we remain in full compliance with the New York State Freedom of Information Law (FOIL). Therefore, city records request may be printed out and hand-delivered or mailed to the address below
FOIL provides the public with the right to access certain public government records. The New York State Legislature noted the purpose of FOIL, as specified in the New York State Public Officers Law, Article 6 §84:
The legislature hereby finds that a free society is maintained when government is responsive and responsible to the public, and when the public is aware of government actions. The more a government is with its citizenry, the greater the understanding and participation of the pubic in government.
Pursuant to NYS Public Officers Law, Article 6, §84, also known as the Freedom of Information Law (FOIL), requests for records to the Fairview Fire District under FOIL are to be made in writing. The FOIL request may be printed out and hand-delivered, or mailed.
Fees: Should you desire copies of records, fees shall apply in accordance with §87(1) of the NYS Public Officers Law. Advanced payment is required before records will be released. Please make check or money orders payable to Fairview Fire District.
Fees for Photocopies: Pages up to 9” x 14” are $.25 each of the actual cost of reproducing any other record.
