Fairview Fire Department

Mourns the Loss of a fellow firefighter

William Malone

On Wednesday, February 15, 2006, Firefighter William F.X. Malone of the Fairview Fire Department was laid to rest at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

On behalf of the members of the Fairview Fire Department, I would like to convey our sincere gratitude to all members of the fire service, the Westchester Career Chiefs Association, and especially the Eastchester Fire Department, Greenville Fire Department, Hartsdale Fire Department, Scarsdale Fire Department, White Plains Fire Department, and Yonkers Fire Department that provided manpower and equipment to cover our fire district so that our members could attend the wake and funeral services.  Thank you.

A sincere thank you goes out the members of the various law enforcement agencies, including the Greenburgh Police Department, New York State Police, and White Plains Police Department for their escort from start to finish during the funeral procession to Mt. Calvary Cemetery, traffic control, and street closures.

To the Westchester Firefighters Pipe and Drums Band who marched the caisson to the church and had a single piper at the cemetery, thank you.

To the members of the Greenburgh Police Department who provided the 21-gun salute, thank you.

To the members of the FDNY Ceremonial Unit, thank you, sincerely, for your invaluable coordination of each and every facet of the funeral procession from the funeral home to the conclusion of the services at the cemetery.

To all of the members, departments, and agencies as well as the Town of Greenburgh, the City of White Plains, the Fairview community, and the surrounding communities, thank you for your extraordinary efforts and heartfelt support.  You have our deepest gratitude.

Lastly, I must thank all the members of our department for your exemplary conduct and support of the Malone family.  You truly answered the call during this difficult time, no matter the nature or magnitude of the task at hand.
